LIFE REFLECTS ART…ART REFLECTS

I’m working on a scene for class.  It is about a girl named AVA who devises a ladies night at her place…She calls this evening the “Destruction Party”.  The Destruction party consists of a table full of breakables ranging from teacups to large bowls.  Anything that if thrown at a wall…would break. Basically in order to throw something at the wall, you have to state what you are mad about in your life.  Work,Friends, Family issues, Men, etc.  The size of the item that you throw being equivalent to the amount of anger you have surrounding this issue.  So the ladies go at it…with a bit of hesitancy at first.  The ladies go on doing this and realize that while it may not solve anything it sure does feel good to let it out!  To LET IT GO.

Cut to:  my real life the next day after working the scene.  I have a day off from work and I decide to go for a walk with my girlfriend.  She’s wearing these trendy large pink rimmed sunglasses and as we walks, she grabs her sunglasses and says I just want to throw these and break them!

Friend: (Insert an ex-boyfriends name here) bought these for me.  FUCK HIM!!

Friend throws glasses and the rims fall out, as she runs to where she threw them and smashes the lens!

Friend:  Hell YES!! THAT FELT SO GOOD!  I don’t need that in my life anymore.

Me:  Yah!!! WOOHOO!  Let it GO!  Let it ALL GO!

We walk down the street both feeling a sense of release and come upon these beautiful flowers.  They were so vibrant, promising and full of life.

Friend: See what happens when you finally let go!!  You get a full garden of fresh amazing flowers!

Life feels alive for me in these small moments.  These moments you can’t predict ahead of time, these moments that last but for only a moment yet fill our hearts with hope and faith. Neither one of our lives have changed in any immense way.  But we both felt that for that moment god was kissing us on our forehead, cheering us on for the next moments to come.

  1. The friend with the sunglasses sounds like she’s been hurt, and if hurt by a guy who gives her the sunglasses, he will never know she felt hurt by him…unless she scooped up the debris and delivered it to him as a symbol of his destruction causing her own “Destruction Party”.

The flowers were indeed a friendly reminder of the breath of fresh air and freedom to grow wild, and be beautiful. So hopefully your friend sees things the same way you do. It sounded like a great day.
